Since its inception, Filmmusic has become a valuable resource for finding a wide selection of music from artists who offer their music under a free commercially usable license.

However, running a website like Filmmusic is not easy, especially when it has grown much faster than expected. While advertising revenue and sales have helped to cover some of the costs, they alone are not sufficient to sustain the website.
