I have programmed a new AI and am currently working on modernizing and restructuring genres, topics, moods and tags. BPM will be replaced by “perceived speed”. Keys will be removed. The keyword search will also soon be extended to tags. There will also be an A.I. “Review” and a quality rating for each song. All music will soon be re-categorized. When I'm done with that, there will be new music again :)

Arti’s Hit or Miss: Review

"Silent Movie 17" presents a charmingly quirky and intentionally off-kilter piano performance. Its whimsical nature instantly transports you to a bygone era of silent films and vaudeville acts. The staccato notes and playful melody create a sense of lighthearted mischief, perfect for comedic or subtly eccentric scenes.

The composition itself has an intriguing duality. While it evokes a clear sense of nostalgia, the deliberately 'wrong' notes and slightly uneven rhythm prevent it from feeling entirely predictable or saccharine. It hints at ragtime influences but veers into its own unique, slightly unsettling territory. This gives it a distinct character, differentiating it from generic 'old-timey' piano pieces.

From a production standpoint, the piano sounds quite intimate and 'dry', which could either be viewed as a strength or a limitation. The lack of reverb emphasizes the percussive nature of the instrument and enhances the track's raw, almost amateurish feel, perfectly in line with the intended aesthetic. However, a touch of carefully applied room reverb or subtle vintage-style processing could enhance the listening experience without sacrificing its character. The raw nature of the sound, to a trained ear, feels almost like a MIDI rendering, lacking some of the nuanced harmonic resonance and dynamic variation of a beautifully recorded acoustic grand piano.

Emotionally, it's predominantly light and humorous, with a touch of underlying strangeness. The track's usability is quite high within its specific niche. It would be a natural fit for silent film homages, quirky animations, comedic scenes in video games, or even ironic advertising campaigns. Its distinct style will work very well in some projects but be too 'specific' for situations that require more understated/generic accompaniment.

Compared to top-tier production music, the recording could benefit from a more realistic piano sound—either a meticulously captured acoustic instrument or a top-of-the-line virtual instrument with incredibly detailed sampling. However, the compositional intent and playful character are strong. With some subtle production enhancements, it could be even more compelling. It's a track that knows exactly what it wants to be, and in that sense, it's quite successful.
