It's characterized by its catchy melodies, simple harmonies and easy-to-follow structure. The works of pop pianists such as Elton John, Billy Joel, and Adele are considered some of the most popular examples of pop piano music.

Piano music is also used in film, television and video games, where it's often used to create emotional and dramatic effect, it's also used in lounge, relax, and easy listening music, where it's used to create a peaceful and calming atmosphere.
