Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

All music pieces on this website are offered under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license. This license allows you to use, share, and modify the music freely as long as you give appropriate credit to the author. Detailed information about the license can be found here.

Attribution to the author is generally required under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license. However, in my case, attribution is voluntary. I appreciate recognition of my work, but I also understand that there may be circumstances where this is not possible. In such cases, I waive the requirement for attribution.

If you wish to attribute the author, which is voluntary and optional, you can do so as follows:

Example:
"Battlefield Heroes" by Sascha Ende

License: https://filmmusic.io/standard-license

No, an extended license is no longer required. The purchase of such licenses was always voluntary and mainly served to support my work. The music is now fully available under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license with a special addition that allows attribution on a voluntary basis. There are no more extended licenses, and they are no longer necessary.

Due to the low number of donations and license purchases, I was no longer able to maintain the old website and the associated community, which included over 250,000 users. Sending emails of any kind costs a lot of money, and support takes even more time. For cost and time reasons, I had to decide to delete all data except for the music. Logging in to the old website is no longer possible. However, with your old email address, you can join the waiting list for Filmmusic.io and you will receive VIPClub access immediately and without waiting time. For this purpose, all old email addresses have been stored as a hash list.

  • You delete your account (or your login code) by simply not logging in for 3 months
  • Accounts are nothing more than an anonymous UUID provided (lent) by Filmmusic.io and do not contain any personal data such as email, password or similar.
  • The recognition of whether you have already registered at Filmmusic.io works like this: You enter your email in the waiting list. The email is compared with a hash list and if the hash value of your email address occurs, you are entitled to skip the waiting list.
  • Only the waiting list requires temporary storage of the email address. This is deleted after sending the email.
  • If you constantly take advantage of your download quota over several days, the system will impose a restriction on you for several weeks, so that your account is limited to 3 downloads per day. VIPClub accounts are therefore not a free pass for unlimited downloading.

The music on this website is provided without any warranty or support. For time and organizational reasons, I no longer offer personal support or respond to individual inquiries. Please use the music under the stated conditions without relying on additional support.

Unfortunately, for legal reasons, I can no longer accept paid commissions as I no longer run a business. I ask for your understanding and recommend you contact other qualified providers if needed.

No. There are many different reasons for this and most of them you can probably guess. I only link sponsors who contribute to the upkeep of this website. And yes, this question comes up so frequently that I have included it here in the FAQ.

No. I do not have a business to legally accept money. The waiting list is fair and is processed on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no way to skip ahead. This would also apply to the President of the USA or Elon Musk; no one gets preferential treatment.

Since I no longer run a business and cannot accept donations for legal reasons, I ask you to donate the amount you wish to a charitable organization or educational institution of your choice. You can send me a copy of the donation receipt via email so I can thank you.

As much as I would love to dive into the confusing world of YouTube, I must pass on this one. Content ID and I – we are not friends, and YouTube is not exactly on my "favorite platforms" list. But don't worry! I'm sure you are strong and independent enough to file a dispute. If you still lack the right path through the maze of dispute options, a search engine could become your new best friend. It surely knows how you can solve the problem!

I use the following hardware:

I use the following DAWs:

I use 95% instruments from the following manufacturers:

For creating A.I. music, I use a variety of renowned providers and continuously test the latest technologies. Therefore, it is not possible for me to name a specific provider here.

Even though music is created with the help of artificial intelligence, this process still requires considerable effort. The creation of music is done through targeted prompting, where I carefully select the best passages from the results – picking the raisins, so to speak – that are suitable for film music and media projects.

It is important to know that I have always been employed full-time at another company and still am, and I run this website only in my spare time (usually in the evenings). It has always been a one-man show.

  • 2010 - Start of my first music portfolio on my personal website ende.us.
  • 2011 - Move to a new domain, ende.tv.
  • 2012 - A major milestone: over 100,000 visitors to the website.
  • 2013 - Assumed a key role at a leading media company, leading to a strategic partnership and the transfer of ende.tv to the company. This decision later turned out to be a major mistake.
  • 2016 - Left the media company and migrated my musical works to sascha-ende.de.
  • 2017 - Establishment of Filmmusic.io and transfer of my music to this platform. The domain sascha-ende.de was converted into a virtual business card.
  • 2019 - Expansion of Filmmusic.io to allow other artists to upload and monetize their music. In this year, the "Filmmusic.io UG" was also founded, a decision I later regretted.
  • 2022 - Faced significant financial challenges in maintaining Filmmusic.io. Despite forgoing a salary, the "Filmmusic.io UG" had to be liquidated. I took over the project as an individual and introduced a new model that enabled artists to use their own payment providers with 100% of the revenue shared, complemented by voluntary donations. This approach turned out to be another critical mistake.
  • 2023 - Removed advertising for data protection reasons, further straining financial sustainability. While guest artists made significant revenues through their payment providers, only a few donated a portion of their earnings. The effort invested in development and support yielded little return, with an average monthly income of 150-200 euros. Moreover, the platform’s integrity was compromised as artists began registering their entire music portfolios under YouTube's Content ID system, leading to a loss of trust with users and exacerbating my personal challenges, including periods of severe depression.
  • 2024 - Filmmusic.io focused exclusively on my own compositions from the end of January due to ongoing trust and licensing issues. This move was necessary due to further incidents of guest artists falsely registering their supposedly copyright-free music under YouTube's Content ID system, violating the terms of the Creative Commons 4.0 license. This decision marks a positive turning point in the strategy.
  • August 2024 - The Filmmusic.io community was closed due to a lack of financial sustainability. The platform was replaced by a modern website that uses the latest technologies and focuses on my music and AI music. Anonymous accounts were introduced: these offer some possibilities of the earlier website without having to deal with data protection issues and corresponding email support.
  • September 2024 - I also deregistered my small business as it is simply no longer worth dealing with accounting and taxes for the few earnings - everyone earns more than myself. The music license was supplemented by a passage that also makes attribution optional (according to the earlier extended licenses). This website is now purely a private hobby.
