When I heard about the selection to the finals of the most positive person in Kouvola, I accepted the place with humility and confusion, after all, the starting point was very negative.
I fell ill with severe depression at the end of 2021 and was forced to quit my work in May 2022. Shooting with a drone became an important part of therapy and recovery. I hesitated to publish the results, but I thought I could present my hometown at the same time. You can find the beauty of Kouvola anywhere, if you only want to look. After receiving encouraging feedback from abroad, I was encouraged and started posting regularly on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Filmmusic communty has been integral part pf my videos, and I want to thank all the contributors. Your work is priceless and appreciated.
When the views crossed the 30,000 mark, I made a thank you video for the support I received and stopped following the statistics. If the publications have brought joy to others, that's only positive, I thought. Publications are free for everyone to view and share. They have not been sold, and no attempt has been made to finance them. I made the publications anonymously because I didn't want to market myself, but to present Kouvola. When the name was revealed, I took it as one positive experience.
I still live with depression every day, but I've tried to find something positive in every day, and of course new shooting locations in Kouvola. I also want to actively spread awareness about depression, so that the prejudices related to the disease will disappear. The plans are to train as a volunteer experience specialist so that I can help others struggling with the same illness.
I'm still an amateur when it comes to videography. At the time of filming, you have to be humble and respectful, and ready to learn new things and accept failures and setbacks. Just like in life.
